Netscape has officially unveiled its personalised page facility for its Netcenter portal.
Called My Netscape, it is the last major development in the company?s Project 60 initiative to build Netcenter into a fully fledged portal (see previous stories).
My Netscape allows users to organise, manage, and maintain all the Web based information, applications and productivity tools they use regularly, in their own customised way.
Competition is hotting up in the portal war as analysts are convinced that only the top few providers will survive. Netscape is confident that is has distinguished itself from the legions of rivals with the help of Web tools called Weblets, which offer such features as a calculator, address book or list of predetermined bookmarks to users once they register.
The personalisation features imclude the standard portal offerings such as customised stock quotes, news, horoscopes, weather and content channels. My Netscape is available now on Netcenter worldwide although it will initially carry US-centric content.
