BSkyB has tabled a £450m bid for Tiscali UK

BSkyB is apparently leading the field when it comes to buying Tiscali's UK operation.

According to reports, BSkyB has edged ahead of its closest competitor, Carphone Warehouse, in talks that have been rolling on since April this year.

Although the UK arm of the Italian ISP is apparently an attractive purchase, no firm has met Tiscali's ideal valuation estimates.

Reports in newspapers this weekend suggest that BSkyB is now ahead of the pack, having tabled a £450m bid.

Current speculation claims that Carphone Warehouse may have pulled out of the race, following similar moves by Vodafone and BT. However, none of the companies involved has yet commented on the reports.
