McAfee is to acquire Trust Digital in an effort to bolster its mobile security operations and add to its line of endpoint protection products.
The security firm said that it will add security offerings for Android, iPhone OS, WebOS, Symbian and Windows Mobile.
McAfee is also planning to integrate the Trust Digital Policy and Compliance Management tool with its ePolicy Orchestrator platform, allowing administrators to better manage corporate handsets.
The company will also pursue deals with mobile operators to offer security services for the consumer and enterprise markets.
"The acquisition of Trust Digital's industry leading enterprise mobility management solutions will extend the current McAfee security portfolio beyond the traditional endpoint, addressing the rapidly expanding mobile security market," said McAfee chief executive Dave DeWalt.
"Through this acquisition, we believe McAfee can expand its reach into new markets, secure new platforms and strengthen its leadership position."
McAfee expects the transaction to be completed by the end of June. Trust Digital is privately owned, and terms of the deal were not disclosed.
