Internet service provider Wanadoo - known as Freeserve until today - has rolled out a capped 512Kbps ADSL broadband connection for £17.99 a month.
Subject to a 12-month contract, and capped at 2GB of data downloads per month, the offer significantly beats those from BT. It is offered with a free modem and connection.

Wanadoo has also unveiled a new £34.99 a month 1Mbps connection, and has enhanced its portal to include free McAfee Security software for all its narrowband and broadband customers, plus free email virus and spam filters.
Separately, PlusNet has dropped its prices by £1 per month offering 150Kbps connections at £14.99, 200Kbps at £15.99, 250Kbps at £16.99 and 512Kbps at £18.99.
