Dell chief technology officer Kevin Kettler has announced that he is leaving in January after 13 years with the company.
His decision is in no way linked to the planned job cuts at the PC manufacturer, the company said.
"This is something Kevin has been planning for some time and we are working to find a successor," Dell told Reuters.
Kettler will be staying in Dell's home town of Austin, Texas where he has part ownership of a wine bar and is active in charity work.
Casey Jones, a vice president of marketing at Dell, also left the company earlier this month but is being retained as a consultant.
