Tarantella's Secure Global Desktop Enterprise Edition remote access offering for Linux will be sold alongside IBM's eServer xSeries and BladeCenter systems, the company has revealed.
Providing a combination of IBM hardware and the Tarantella software will raise the credibility of Linux in enterprises by allowing companies to preconfigure systems "off the shelf" with the Linux remote access system, according to Tarantella.
"Our customers are looking for complete, Linux-based solutions to help reduce IT costs and consolidate infrastructure," said Rob Sauerwalt, global brand manager for software and services, IBM systems and technology group, in a statement.
"Working with leading solution providers like Tarantella, we offer our customers integrated offerings that deliver exceptional value and help enhance Linux offerings in the enterprise."
Secure Global Desktop Enterprise Edition works with a range of server-based applications from Linux to Microsoft Windows, Unix, IBM 32xx and AS/400 systems, in addition to a range of client platforms.
It is engineered to support Java, SSL, LDAP, SSH and X11 standards, and ships in single, 200, 400 or 600 user configurations.
