Verizon is to carry Apple's iPhone 4 from January next year, according to multiple reports.
Technology site TechCrunch cited unnamed sources in reporting that handsets for use on Verizon's network are scheduled for delivery in December and launch in January.
V3.co.uk has received a similar report from a source suggesting a January iPhone launch with Verizon.
Furthering talk of a carrier expansion for the iPhone, AT&T said in a recent filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission that it is looking to diversify its handset line to avoid being dependent on any one offering.
Apple chief executive Steve Jobs said during a press event concerning the iPhone 4's antenna issues last month that the company has a Verizon cell site on its Cupertino campus.
AT&T was the first carrier to offer the iPhone back in June 2007, and has had an exclusive deal in the US.
While the exact length of the arrangement between Apple and AT&T was not revealed, the reports of an expansion to Verizon suggest that it will expire in the coming months.
The reports follow a shake up in Apple's iPhone executive team in which Mark Papermaster stepped down as head of mobile hardware.
