HP has introduced its first commercial desktop in Europe, the Middle East and Africa based on AMD's Athlon XP processor.
The HP Business Desktop dx6050, targeted at small and medium-sized businesses, education and public sector customers, will be available in early May starting at a recommended price of £299 excluding VAT and delivery.
As well as the AMD Athlon XP processor, the model features integrated nVidia GeForce 4 MX graphics and built-in dual-monitor functionality.
Other features include PC2700 (DDR333) memory with maximum capacity of 2GB; high-performance hard drives (7200 rpm); integrated 3Com NIC and six USB 2.0 ports. The desktop is offered with a standard three-year guarantee.
Both pre-configured models and customised products, sold through HP channel partners, are available.
Options include the AMD Athlon XP processors 2800+ and 3000+, hard drives up to 160 GB, DDR SDRAM up to 2GB, and an 8X DVD+R/RW drive.
"The HP Business Desktop dx6050 complements our desktop offerings for small and medium-sized businesses," said Georg Bernskoetter, HP EMEA commercial desktops director, in a statement.
