Software vendor CA has named William McCracken as its new chief executive. McCracken will keep his old position as chairman and serve in both roles.
Prior to working at CA, McCracken spent 36 years at IBM as head of the company's PC division in EMEA and Asia, later serving as general manager of IBM's printing division.
McCracken will take over as chief executive from John Swainson, who announced his intention to retire in September.
"Through the years, and especially over the past five months, I have seen first hand the passion and dedication that the CA team brings to its customers each and every day," McCracken said.
"We have great people, products and a clear strategy that will not only unlock the full potential of CA, but guide our growth today and in the future."
