Twitter's continued rise to prominence in the corporate sphere has been highlighted again this week as web content management vendor Jadu launched a dedicated module for the micro-blogging site in its Jadu CMS software.
Jadu CMS Client for Twitter is designed to help organisations tap into the power of Twitter to improve knowledge management, customer service and brand management initiatives, according to Jadu.
Available as a free upgrade, the module allows users to tweet, re-tweet and search from within the content management system (CMS). Crucially, it has a storage function which could be particularly useful for public sector organisations that need to respond to freedom of information requests, according to Jadu.
The module also incorporates an 'attitudes' filter which can allow firms to track their brands by monitoring positive and negative tweets.
"It is essential that businesses are reactive to the conversation generated on social networks," said Jadu chief executive Suraj Kika.
"The Jadu Twitter client ensures high levels of transparency and control through publishing workflow, submitting tweets as you would any other content in the CMS so you can quickly respond to customers on the Twitter network with a greater degree of confidence, before issues escalate beyond control."
Jadu customer Lichfield District Council has been using the module to share information with its citizens on topics such as planning applications, recycling and adverse weather conditions.
"Twitter is an ideal platform for sharing information with local people easily and quickly," said Elizabeth Thatcher, the council's communications manager. "This winter Twitter proved invaluable in spreading the message about delayed bin collections as a result of the heavy snowfall."
