Yahoo has started offering unique content on its Yahoo Finance portal, hiring nine columnists in an effort to attract more visitors.
The move marks a further push into content creation by the search engine. Earlier this week Yahoo launched a special section on its portal written by veteran war correspondent Kevin Sites.
Sites has covered many armed conflicts, and is famous for his footage of a US marine shooting an unarmed Iraqi inside a Fallujah mosque which was syndicated around the world.
The correspondent will post images and text on a Yahoo section called Hot Zone.
Yahoo has traditionally offered content delivered only from press agencies and other outside sources. The new deals allow the company to further differentiate itself from other portals and attract more visitors.
