BMC Software has rolled out a new version of its Control-M workload management software for enterprises, designed to provide IT teams with greater control and flexibility.
Control-M 7 is a key part of the vendor's Business Service Management strategy, enabling firms to dynamically manage workloads and therefore match ever-changing business priorities to resources, said BMC.
New features include support for cloud and virtual environments, and Dynamic Workload Management which maps workloads to IT priorities. BMC claimed that this ensures companies maximise IT resources and cut costs and waste.
"With features such as Dynamic Workload Automation, cloud and virtualisation capabilities, as well as scenario-based recovery and compliance reporting, BMC Control-M 7 provides the best solution to align IT workloads with business needs and reduce costs," said Bill Miller, president of mainframe service management at BMC.
The introduction of cloud support should let firms manage changing workloads with an "elastic" system that controls virtual and physical environments whether on or off premise, and regardless of the use to which they are put.
Costs are reduced by minimising errors and increasing control and flexibility, BMC said, adding that automating many processes removes much of the burden on administrators.
