Microsoft Corporation has agreed an out of court settlement with a biometric security firm that accused it of infringing its trademarks. The legal spat between the software giant and Artemis Solutions Group (ASG) was ended by a “confidential settlement agreement,” Microsoft said today.

ASG had accused Microsoft of infringing registered trademarks associated with its BioCert range of products. ASG's intellectual property lawyers, Ken Peterson and Jack Baldwin announced they are satisfied Microsoft has proceeded in good faith. As part of the settlement, ASG will retain its trademark rights and will dismiss its action against Microsoft.

"Artemis is a key player in the biometric security field," said David Harnett, of Microsoft.

"As an intellectual property company, we respect the IP rights of others and are pleased to resolve this matter amicably."
