SunGard Availability Services has launched a fully managed 'private cloud' service in the UK.
SunGard-as-a-Service has five components: connectivity, security, load balancing, computing power and managed tiered storage. Each is scalable enough to meet the specific requirements of enterprises, according to the firm, and the system is fully managed, resilient and secure.
For example, all systems are managed by teams of specialist engineers who man SunGard's datacentre facilities on a 24/7 basis, the firm said.
SunGard will be using the cloud service to provide a secure, reliable platform for its software-as-a-service offerings for customers in the finance sector. The company said that customers will benefit from a hands-off approach to their systems, leaving them free to perform more business-centric tasks.
"With SunGard Availability Services' network of highly resilient datacentres, we are able to offer fully scalable, high-performance computing managed by experienced and highly skilled engineers," said Mats Lillienberg, chief technology officer of SunGard Financial Systems.
