Compuware has released two application performance management (APM) products designed to provide visibility across the application delivery chain.

The first is the Gomez Winter 2010 Platform Release, which is accompanied by the Gomez First Mile Appliance to provide a "first mile to last mile" view of application performance.

The new appliance furthers the integration of Compuware Vantage APM technology with the software-as-a-service synthetic monitoring capabilities of Gomez, which Compuware acquired just over a year ago.

Michael Allen, regional director of IT service management solutions at Compuware, claimed that the Gomez appliance extends local and global web application performance testing and monitoring throughout cloud computing environments, using Vantage-powered real-user transaction checks.

"Customers, including cloud providers, can still measure key performance indicators against the performance of applications traditionally, or they can ship an appliance that we will configure to run Gomez at the end-user site," he said.

Compuware has also updated its APM offerings with the release of Vantage 11.5 (PDF), which features certified 'VMware Ready' support for VMotion performance management of applications hosted in, and migrated between, physical and VMware virtualised datacentre platforms.

Vantage 11.5 has also been integrated with wide area network (WAN) optimisation hardware from Riverbed and Cisco Wide Area Application Services to passively measure the real end-user application experience optimised in these WAN environments.
