Vignette has unveiled the latest version of its content management suite, which it said will allow IT departments to give business users more control over their content management systems (CMS).
Vignette Content Management 8.0 will be made available in the second half of 2009, and boasts a more intuitive user interface and out-of-the-box templates to allow users to modify web sites within approved guidelines.
The company said that this will allow business users to easily modify web sites to respond quickly to market shifts.
Customers will be able to personalise toolbars and favourite shortcuts, which will make content management easier, according to Vignette.
"Our primary focus with this upgrade was the conflict between IT departments and business users over how fast the content management system can be updated," said Con O'Connell, chief technology officer at Vignette. "Now business users can modify the site when the system is running."
Vignette customers can expect greater CMS integration with social tools later in the year, the company said.
