NCR planning Teradata upgrade

NCR plans to improve OLAP on its high-end Teradata database by offering optional TeraCube middleware that pushes analysis to a middle tier. Teradata 2.3 also has SQL extensions that crunch smaller data sets for online analytical processing and data mining in a middle tier and thereby improve query processing. It will use NCR's Top End middleware and Geppetto's Workshop LLC's Ant Colony technology to create multidimensional data on an ad hoc basis. It features an ad hoc query system that provides access to transaction-level data by generating data cubes.
