Dutch pop act The Vengaboys have taken the unusual step of previewing their latest single as a ringtone for mobile phones.
From today, the dance group's new single "Cheekah Bow Bow" is available for free download to compatible phones from Ringtones.com.
Mobile data company, Mobilelifestreams, which worked on the launch with The Vengaboys' record company, said: "Following a strong technology-led dance floor style, this catchy tune translates perfectly into a ringtone and no doubt soon will be heard on mobile phones the world over."
Vengaboys fans with compatible GSM phones can have the ringtone sent directly to their phone after visiting the Ringtones website and entering their mobile phone number into the test facility.
Hannah Verdier, news editor of music magazine Smash Hits said: "It's a brilliant idea - you can dance to your phone. There are lots of tunes available for mobile phones, but I've never heard of a group launching a single in this way."
"The Venagboys' music is good for this sort of thing, kids will love it," she added.
Whether commuters will find it as appealing is unclear.
In May, Finnish dance-music duo Nylon Beat also released a single exclusively as a mobile phone ring.
