Anyone short of an out-of-this-world idea for a Christmas present should put in a bid for the spacesuits currently under auction at eBay.

The suits, a job lot from the US Army Umatilla Chemical Weapons Depot in Oregon, come in all sizes for designer day wear.

The summer-green butyl rubber suits feature an off-the-shoulder fully self-contained rechargeable battery pack, matching gloves, boots and air filters.

A US Army duffel bag completes the ensemble, which is crowned with a distinctive helmet - handy for those days where zero gravity is a major worry.

Although the only real use for such suits is going into pubs where there is no atmosphere, bidding has already reached $299.95
