In Pictures: Firefox 3.5

You can install Firefox 3.5 either by downloading the latest version of the installer from the Mozilla site or by 'Checking for updates' from within the help menu of your current version of the browser.

The new Private browsing mode can be started and stopped from the Tools menu. When in Private mode no record of the session - history, cookies, cache, form data or passwords - will be stored.

Any application that wants to make use of the location based service will need to obtain the user's permission first.

Accuracy of the location will depend on what type of internet connection is being used (LAN, Wi-Fi or 3G) but is usually accurate to within a few blocks.

Users now have the option of clearing out information such as history or cookies based on certain types and time periods or clearing out all stored data as previously done.

As well as deleting browsing history from a particular time period, there is also now the option of deleting all traces of visits to a particular site.

Building on Firefox's ability to reopen recently closed tabs, users are now able to recover recently closed windows and all their associated tabs – ideal for when a window is closed accidentally.

Firefox 3.5 also allows easier tab management including tab tearing, allowing users to reorder tabs as well as move them between windows. Tearing off a tab and dropping it on the desktop will open that tab in a new Firefox window.

Creating bookmarks is now as simple as clicking the star in the address bar.
