Data storage firm Verbatim has launched an eSATA and USB combination hard drive in a 3.5in format which features data transfer speeds of 3Gbps.
The drive has been developed for large volumes of data to be read and written in a matter of seconds, representing a six-fold speed increase compared to a single USB 2.0 connection, according to the vendor.
Kai Miroschnik, business development manager at Verbatim, said: "We develop our products to set standards and make users' lives as stress-free and as easy as possible.
"Speed and openness to change is the key to success when it comes to storage media."
The external 3.5in drives weigh less than 1kg and are available in 500GB or 1TB capacities. The 3.5in format also adds to its portability.
Data backups can be performed quickly and reliably with the use of Nero Back It Up 2 Essentials security software, Verbatim said.
The new drives are available now for £79.99 for the 500GB version and £124.99 for the 1TB version.
