Security firm McAfee has acquired Preventsys to get its hands on the firm's security risk management and automated reporting software.
McAfee plans to add Preventsys' security products to its enterprise security technology.
"Preventsys has created a security risk management system for large companies that need to proactively protect confidential information, ensure availability of critical IT assets, and easily communicate security compliance to the management," said a McAfee spokeswoman.
She added that the Preventsys system brings together security data from multi-vendor tools into an enterprise dashboard.
Patrick Harr, chief executive at Preventsys, said that the software is easily integrated into a user's new or existing tools without having to change the security process.
"This will decrease the time and costs associated with manual auditing and compliance reporting," he said.
