UK bloggers are among the most advanced and media savvy in the world, according to Microsoft.
The company set up a technical blogging site in April for people to host online diaries. Based on the experience so far, Microsoft said that the British are showing their American cousins how blogging is done.
"UK bloggers are among the most avid podcasters," said Betsy Aoki, Microsoft's community programme manager. "The wiring in of multimedia makes the blogs a lot of fun."
The blogging site is run using Microsoft's internal blogging software, a collection of software suites designed to allow better multi-media blogs.
Aoki described the results of the first three months of Microsoft's blogging experiment as "interesting".
Blogs are an "addictive substance", she said, adding that bloggers demand instant access and posting, and make her life "busy" when they are unable to access the system.
The growth of RSS feeds has also presented challenges, according to Microsoft. Aoki warned that blog hosts would have to get feeds sorted out to handle the increased loads that RSS readers will place on bandwidth.
