Skype has released a test version of its Mac software that supports video calling.
The new release allows video calls to be conducted between users on both Mac and PC platforms. The software is available to download from Skype's website.
Skype is calling the release a 'Preview' and does not recommend that users install it to systems on which they rely.
The video preview offers all the features available in the new 1.5 beta version of the Mac client, also announced at the same time.
The beta features a redesigned interface designed for the Mac platform, and an improved contact list.
The Easy Dialling feature makes it simple to place international phone calls without having to remember individual country codes. Users can simply select the country from a drop down list.
Announcing the new software, Jaanus Kase, community marketing manager at Skype, recognised the Mac community as "an important market that values style, innovation and ease of use".
