Apple's Summer Camps offer two-and-a-half hours of hands-on learning

Apple is opening all its UK stores to run free summer camps for kids aged eight to 12 who want to learn how to use Macs.

The two-and-a-half hour workshops include podcasting, iWeb and iPhoto, music and movies, and children are allowed to sign up for two out of the four camps.

"Apple Summer Camp provides an opportunity for kids and families to participate in fun and engaging activities," said Apple.

"Each Summer Camp workshop consists of two-and-a-half hours of hands-on learning, doing cool stuff on Macs."

Completed projects can be burned to CD or DVD and taken home. Children wanting to take part must sign up online as space is limited at each store.

They must also bring along a signed Summer Camp Permission Statement (PDF) and be accompanied by a legal guardian.
