According to the firm, the product will allow users easily to extend the reach of their existing Verity K2 Enterprise and Verity Ultraseek-powered search system to the internet.
The offering allows results to be examined in multiple views by relevance, category or content source for more effective searching.
It also allows for web-based content to be classified dynamically into existing corporate taxonomies, and lets customers expand external content access with optional plug-ins to subscription-based information providers.
Anthony Bettencourt, Verity's president and chief executive, said: "Verity Enterprise Web Search allows end-users to make one query from the desktop and view results from both internal sources and Yahoo Search, maximising users' ability to quickly leverage all of the available intellectual capital."
The Yahoo web search technology provides intelligence from industry analysts, media, consumer group portals and competitors' public-facing websites, in addition to relevant market, economic, environmental and scientific research across academia, government and business.
"Search technology continues to evolve, providing users with even more powerful research tools. As content across the web becomes richer, we anticipate that the demand for integrated business search solutions will continue to grow," said Tim Cadogan, vice president of Yahoo Search.
Verity Enterprise Web Search is available to existing Verity K2 and Ultraseek customers from the Verity Download Center here.
