Research in Motion (RIM) has launched a public beta of its Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones client.
The company has been testing the service in a private beta since February, and has now opened up the client to the public and added a number of enhanced features.
BlackBerry users can now access a comprehensive set of direct messaging options via RIM's Push service, and messages are now directed in real time so that users can access and manage messages as soon as they arrive.
Users get notifications of tweets and re-tweets, and can post links through the BlackBerry's browser, while images can be taken on the BlackBerry's camera can be uploaded directly to Twitter.
RIM has also added trend searches and the ability to follow friends, and user's avatar profiles have been magnified so that the interface is optimised for the BlackBerry display.
