Mozilla Firefox
Critical flaw could allow attackers to take control

Mozilla has released a security update that patches eight vulnerabilities in its Firefox browser. The company gave the flaws severity ratings ranging from 'low' to 'critical'.

The critical flaw could allow attackers to instruct a system to perform certain tasks on start-up without the user's permission, effectively allowing control of the system.

The update also includes a fix for a vulnerability that was published in December, in which an attacker could prevent Firefox from running altogether by 'poisoning' one of the application's log files. Mozilla gave the issue a severity rating of 'low'.

The patches also deliver non-security bug fixes aimed at increasing the application's stability and improving support for Mac OS X.

Updates can be obtained through the application's auto-update feature or as a manual download directly from the Mozilla website here.
