Juniper Networks has added support for Apple's iPad to its Junos Pulse Mobile Security Suite.
The company said that the move allows enterprise administrators and service providers to deliver security protection, device management and access control for the Apple tablet.
Junos Pulse App for iPad is offered free through the Apple App Store, and can be downloaded and deployed on iPads running the latest iOS 4.2 firmware.
Once installed, the software allows the device to connect to networks running the Junos Pulse suite.
Pulse is Juniper's attempt to offer enterprise security and management for smartphone and tablet devices, giving administrators greater control over employees using mobile devices.
Security vendors have increasingly looked to secure products such as the iPad, which have conventionally been viewed as consumer or personal devices, in response to growing demand from staff to bring tablets and smartphones into business networks.
"Our customers have started to deploy iPads to enable the productivity of their mobile workforce," said Sanjay Beri, access and acceleration vice president and business manager at Juniper.
"Junos Pulse App for iPad now provides the level of security customers require, removing the main barrier to enterprise adoption."
