A game for the upcoming Nintendo Revolution console is pulling the boundaries by going back to black and white.

Game developer Nibris said it had taken note of the keynote speech by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata at the Game Developers Conference in San Jose, where he challenged a crowd of game developers to think differently and take a fresh approach to the creation of video games.

"Nibris has decided to follow Nintendo's path, which definitely fights the stagnation that has occurred in video games, and creates new trends," said Piotr Orlowski of Nibris games.

However, the company denied it was following a trend created by the recent Sin City movie.

The company said the idea for doing the game – called Sadness - completely in black and white was because it was set in the pre-World War era.

"With this move, we want to create a unique environment, which is only available in Sadness," Orlowski said.
