Security firm GlobalSign has announced a new multi-year certificate called PersonalSign that will secure email content and the identity of the email sender.
The firm said that the benefits of multi-year over one-year certificates are that users do not have to renew so frequently, and can avoid the pitfalls of their certificate expiring. GlobalSign will also offer multi-year pricing discounts.
The email certificates can be installed in all popular email clients, such as Microsoft Outlook, and will let users digitally sign and encrypt emails.
GlobalSign also said that PersonalSign certificates will allow users to digitally sign Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access documents directly from Microsoft Office to prevent tampering of content and prove authorship.
Enterprise solutions on offer from GlobalSign include certificates for individuals and certificates that can be issued to entire departments.
The PersonalSign product will be offered with a validity period of three years for £25.
