DotMobi, the registry for the .mobi top-level domain for mobile web sites, today launched a new tool which it claims gives small businesses the ability to instantly create mobile-ready sites.
Instant Mobilizer takes any fixed web site and makes it mobile-compatible, regardless of the network or the handset, removing the need for development efforts. Changes to the original site are updated automatically on the mobile site by the tool, according to the company.
The tool uses several dotMobi services, including the DeviceAtlas database, which ensures site compatibility with all handsets, and the ready.mobi testing tool that checks the performance of the newly created sites.
Small to medium sized businesses (SMBs) wishing to mobilise an existing site need to visit a dotMobi's domain registrar partner that offers Instant Mobilizer to sign up for the service, and will need a .mobi domain.
"This January, the .mobi domain was recognized by Small Business Trends as one of the 'Top 10 Global Trends for Small Businesses for 2009' due to the mobile web's global reach and ability to penetrate emerging markets," said Catrina Sheridan, dotMobi's vice president of product deployment.
"Instant Mobilizer provides a complete solution for the mobile web development headaches that SMB owners often run into when trying to increase their market share without a large IT budget."
