CinemaNow has signed a deal to distribute Warner Bros TV and movie titles in the US, offering downloads that users can watch as many times as they want.
TV series such as Babylon 5 and The Dukes of Hazzard will be available alongside recent movies such as Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and older favourites like The Matrix and 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Bruce Eisen, president of CinemaNow, said that users will be able to download some titles, like Firewall and 16 Blocks, on the same day as the DVD release.
"This is an important step for our US distribution efforts," said Jim Wuthrich, senior vice president of digital distribution at Warner Bros Home Entertainment Group.
"This is one more way for consumers to enjoy high quality Warner Bros digital entertainment."
Once a title has been downloaded, it can be played back an unlimited number of times on the device to which it was downloaded.
The system uses Microsoft's Windows Digital Rights Management software.
