Negris has 25 years' experience in the IT industry, including posts with Oracle and IBM, and is known as the man who coined the term thin client.

According to a recent Securities and Exchange Commission disclosure filed by SCO, Negris will receive an annual salary of $140,000 and is eligible to the firm's bonus programme up to a maximum 80 per cent of his base salary. Gupta will receive the same salary and a maximum bonus of 40 per cent.

"The combined talents of Negris and Gupta put our company in a strategic position to execute on our overall product and corporate vision," said Darl McBride, president and chief executive at SCO.
