Chrome is coming to the Mac

Google could soon launch a beta version of its Chrome browser for the Apple Mac platform, according to discussion posts.

Speaking about changes required for some new Windows and Linux browser actions, the firm said, "The extensions team has been working hard to get BrowserActions ready, and they're already working great on Windows and Linux.

"We've noticed that many of you have updated your extensions to take advantage of the new UI. We'd like to encourage the rest of you to do so as well!"

Why now? Well the poster, Nick Baum, a product manager at Chrome, adds that although Mac developers will have to wait, in the short term they will build up valuable experience tinkering with the available extension-adding options.

"The earlier you switch, the more time you will have to polish your experience for our Beta launch in early December," he wrote.

"We realise this means dropping Mac support for a couple of weeks, but we already have people working on that. If you prioritise the Windows and Linux versions, we'll bring you cross-platform parity as soon as we can!"

Mac users will not have to wait too long for a version of the browser for their machines, as Baum quotes a December date for the Chrome 4.0 Mac release.

The casual, detail-light mention did not even cause a ripple of responses to the initial post.
