BMC touts easier datacentre management

BMC Software has updated its Proactive Operations software for companies running online, on-premise, cloud or hybrid datacentre systems.

The firm said that new features allow enterprises to manage physical, virtual and hybrid cloud infrastructures "with ease and confidence".

Included in the release are planning, analytics and preventative automation tools, which should help companies become more responsive while cutting costs and reducing risk and complexity.

"Predictive, proactive and preventative service management is a critical component of our dynamic business service management approach for helping IT deliver business value at optimal cost," said Ajay Singh, vice president and general manager of service assurance at BMC.

"By providing a single solution for managing a hybrid environment, we are making the evermore complex IT environment easier to manage, while ensuring that customers can continue to deliver against critical service level agreements."

A single dashboard view covers datacentre operations and the BMC service management operations platform, which uses predictive and service impact analytics to monitor performance and flag potential issues.

The software also has capacity planning features that provide information for dynamic, virtual and cloud environments.

BMC said the tool displays system performance and availability information which can be used to anticipate and plan for a system slowdown, diagnose and assess its root cause, and determine the likely effect this will have on the business.
