UK-based Jadu has become the latest web content management provider to respond to growing demand for social computing capabilities with the launch of a new version of its flagship Jadu CMS.
The release, dubbed Clearwater, is focused on putting control of a web site into the hands of non-technical users.
A Directories feature enables customers to rapidly deploy structured directory-based information by importing data records from another source, or building a database non-technically and allowing site users to submit and manage their own listings, the firm said.
Clearwater also features a MyJadu application programming interface (API), which allows developers to write applications for any site powered by the CMS product.
Finally, web asset management functionality provides real-time encoding of raw video to Flash video, and delivery of video and audio assets as podcasts.
"The feedback from customers is that they want intelligent, business-driven, non-technical publishing, but they want their content presented and manipulated in many ways, including as assets for third parties to innovate with," said Jadu chief executive Suraj Kika.
"This will enable their sites to create an 'economy' around their content and put their organisations at the centre of that economy."
