Video mobile operator 3 has added NEC's new e228 handset to its ThreePay pay-as-you-go roster.
The sixth NEC handset to be offered by 3, the e228 is now on sale from £75 at over 7,000 retail outlets across the UK, including Argos, Superdrug, Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U.
The phone, which measures 129 x 53 x 21.5mm and weighs 125g, has two high-resolution cameras and a speakerphone for hands-free video and voice calling, and a 65,536-colour screen of 220 x 176 pixels.
The e228 also offers email, an MP3 player, 19MB of internal memory, and a memory card slot for a Sony MemoryStick Duo to store an extra 128MB of content.
Additional features include vibrate alert, calendar function, a calculator with currency converter, and headset.
Gareth Jones, chief operating officer at 3, said in a statement: "3 is redefining what customers can expect to get for their money.
"It's no surprise that the predecessor to the NEC e228 has been the UK's best-selling prepay handset. We expect the NEC e228, with its slimline design and high-resolution camera, to be just as popular."
