Customers looking to compare different mobile broadband deals from the UK's five operators now have a new website to check after BroadbandInternetUK.com added 'Mobile Broadband' to its 'Home Broadband' comparison web pages.
However, while individuals thinking about buying one of the mobile broadband dongles have information from all five mobile operators, the business section of the mobile broadband site has data only for Vodafone and T-Mobile deals so far.
Broadband Internet UK spokesman Steve Tattersall said: "Obviously it's an ongoing project and the other business deals from mobile operators 3, O2 and Orange will be added as quickly as we can."
The information supplied about the Vodafone and T-Mobile deals includes package details, 'theoretical' download speed, download limit, contract period, set-up cost and pricing including monthly and first-year costs.
However, other major factors which could influence IT managers' deployment plans are currently missing.
These include how much of the UK is covered by the service, as well as the latency of the technology used and the upload data transfer rate.
"That's a valid comment, but price is also a major determinant," said Tattersall. "What we're looking at doing as an interim is putting URL links to mobile operators' coverage maps on the mobile broadband section of the website. "
