Dell has added a slimline ultraportable to its Vostro range of PCs targeting small businesses.
Available immediately, the Vostro V13 has a 13.3in display and measures just 16.5mm thick. However, with a starting price of at £359, the new model is a more affordable option for smaller businesses than ultraportables have been in the past.
"Not long ago, business travellers had to choose mobility and affordability at the expense of performance. That's no longer the case with the V13," said Dell's global vice president for small and medium business, Sam Burd.
Despite the low price, the V13 has a brushed aluminium casing with reinforced zinc hinges designed to take any rough handling, according to Dell.
The new laptop line is based on Intel's Consumer Ultra-Low Voltage processors, and ships with up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, Windows 7, and a starting weight of 1.59kg with a six-cell battery pack.
Connectivity includes 802.11g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and optional mobile broadband.
Dell said that small business customers can choose to extend the basic warranty on the laptop from one to three years. Businesses can also choose 24/7 IT support with optional Dell ProSupport services.
