Sony has confirmed that it is on target for the 4 March release date of its much hyped Playstation II games console, despite software problems.
The consumer electronics giant is playing down technical glitches that have stopped current Playstation games being compatible with Playstation II.
Sony maintains that only a few games are not compatible and it plans to release a list of these games on its website on 18 February.
Playstation II, which is being billed as a home entertainment hub rather than a simple games console, will go on sale for $360 in Japan next month. Europe will have to wait until later in the year.
