CoSoSys Endpoint Protector Appliance

Security firm CoSoSys is shipping a network appliance that provides centralised protection against data loss from removable storage across Mac and PC client systems, simplifying this process for IT staff.

Available now, the CoSoSys Endpoint Protector Appliance is suitable for companies ranging from 50 to over 5,000 computers, according to the firm, and can be installed and configured in under five minutes.

The device is intended to keep businesses safe from the security threat posed by USB flash drives and other devices that can be connected to client systems, such as digital cameras, portable hard drives, notebooks, smartphones, netbooks and even iPads.

All customers have to do to is connect the appliance to the network and deploy the Endpoint Protector client software onto each Mac and PC, at which point device use is instantly controlled, according to CoSoSys.

Protection with the appliance includes all features of the firm's existing Endpoint Protector software, such as enforced encryption of removable storage.

"Our new appliance is designed to cover all company types, from small and medium-sized private businesses to large corporations with thousands of employees, allowing them to take advantage of corporate-class protection without stretching existing hardware or software resources or requiring IT professionals to go through a lengthy and complicated learning process," said CoSoSys chief executive Roman Foeckl.

The Endpoint Protector Appliance is available in five models - the A50, A100, A250, A1000 and A4000 - based on the number of endpoint licences included in the price, which starts at €1,199 (£1,050) for the A50.
