Wearable computer technology firm Xybernaut has unveiled a version of the Linux operating system tailored to run the company's Atigo family of products.

"With Linux deployments growing quickly on an international basis, our interest naturally moved towards offering a Linux option for our Atigo product family," said Steven Newman, president and chief operating officer at Xybernaut, in a statement.
"The Linux option lowers the price of entry to our Atigo T product family and has been a particularly strong area of interest from our European customers because academia and businesses in Europe have been very quick to add Linux to their enterprise IT architectures."
The newest Linux Atigo products will incorporate open source features such as support for industry standard communications protocols, advanced data management and system configuration features, and superior network management capabilities.
Xybernaut Solutions, the company's integration team, will also be offering Linux-related services such as system administration, application development, usability factors and training, as well as methodologies for incorporating the open source-based mobile/wearable computers into enterprises.
