Over 70 per cent of iPhone developers plan to create applications for Android over the next six months, according to new research from mobile advertising network AdMob, providing further evidence of the growing popularity of the platform among developers.
The firm's research seemed to indicate that the mobile space is still at a relatively early stage for developers. Just 49 per cent said that they have been developing mobile applications for less than a year.
The key for developers seems to be to work across several platforms to maximise their potential income. The research found that 31 per cent work across multiple mobile platforms today, and 47 per cent plan to in the next six months.
Aside from the growing popularity of Android, the iPhone remains the most popular platform for developers, and around half of Android developers plan to write apps for the Apple device.
The news comes as AdMob updated its software development kits for the Android, Flash Lite and iPhone platforms, promising to make it even easier for developers to monetise traffic.
