UK firms offered Windows Vista migration training

Vista migration can be a complex procedure

Binary Resource UK has introduced a training programme for companies planning a migration to Windows Vista.

The programme is aimed at IT staff charged with migration to and deployment of Windows Vista within their organisations, and focuses on the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit and optionally Symantec's Ghost Solution Suite.

Binary Resource UK is a subsidiary of Binary Research, and claims to be behind the Ghost PC cloning tool now developed by Symantec. The company said that a significant group of users wish to utilise their existing Ghost licences for any migration to Vista.

While Vista adoption has been slow among large organisations, such training could prove relevant for companies expecting to migrate to Windows 7, as this platform will be based on many of the technologies introduced in Vista.

The training comprises a hands-on, instructor-led workshop at a customer's own site, and a three-day course for Microsoft's Deployment Toolkit or five days if Ghost Solution Suite is included.

Annette Dow, director of Binary Resource UK, said that the learning curve for Microsoft's migration tools is significant even for experienced personnel, and that the company has simplified the process through an 'Eight steps to deployment success' model.

Fees start at £1,500 per person for the three-day course, and £2,600 per person for the five-day course, with discounts available for higher numbers of attendees.
