The richest man in the world suffered the indignity of having a whipped cream pie thrust into his face as he flew into Belgium yesterday.

Bill Gates, CEO of Microsoft, was hit by the pie as he went to meet Belgian prime minister Jean-Luc Dehaene and EU president Jacques Santer.

Police arrested two members of a Belgian group, which specialises in cream pie assaults on celebrities whom they consider to be too pompous.
