McAfee has extended its range of security endpoint solutions to include protection for Apple computers.
The security firm said that McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac supports OS X Snow Leopard, Leopard and Tiger, and warned that, as the Mac platform grows in popularity, it will generate more attention from malware and virus writers.
"IT is demanding to have the ability to protect and manage security on Mac endpoints just as they do Windows endpoints," the firm said.
"McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac lowers operational management costs by using a single integrated management platform for both Mac and Windows endpoints, and provides a truly integrated security solution."
The software includes a single console overview for managing Mac and Windows machines, along with the firm's ePolicy Orchestrator at-a-glance security reporting tool.
Also included are anti-virus and anti-spyware tools, along with inbound and outbound firewalls to prevent viruses from getting in and sensitive information or documents from leaving the enterprise.
McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac is available now.
