Most popular with readers this week has been the arrival of Google Street View, letting UK web users locate photos of their houses, streets or any other interesting landmarks via Google's photo mapping technology. However, we doubt it will be long before unauthorised or unexpected images start coming to light on the site and are used for unintended purposes.
The major product launch of the week has been the release of Internet Explorer 8. Microsoft hopes IE8 will revive interest in its browser against rivals such as Mozilla's Firefox and Google's Chrome, which has also had a new beta release this week. In our first look at the updated browser, we found that the security features and greater support for standards were welcome features; if not enough to tempt back rival browser fans, they should certainly encourage users of older IE versions to make the upgrade.
