Lenovo has announced two new business desktop PCs that it says have been designed to keep operating costs low and provide environmentally friendly hardware.
The ThinkCentre M90 and M90p systems come in tower, small form factor and ultra small form factor designs and run Intel’s Core i5 and i7 processors with a variety of internal hardware configurations. Windows 7 with multitouch control is also available on models using the Lenovo L2461x Wide monitor.
The company says that the systems have been designed to reduce operational costs to a minimum. To this end the computers have remote management software that allows the system to be worked on while powered off at a remote location.
Imaging the contents of the systems by IT managers has also been improved with Lenovo Secure Managed Client 2.0, and a hardware password manager is included for security.
“Our customers tell us their technology priorities in 2010, including migrating to Windows 7, are to help minimise costs and streamline operations,” said Dilip Bhatia, executive director of ThinkCentre Marketing, Lenovo.
“The new ThinkCentre M90 and M90p are not only designed to help large businesses lower costs in PC management, but are equipped with the latest technologies to foster stronger productivity, ensure better security and allow IT managers to more efficiently manage large global fleets.”
On the green front, Lenovo says the systems contain up to 42 per cent post-consumer recycled content and comply with the EnergyStar 5 rating. Typically the systems will deliver $43 per user per year in power savings.
Pricing has not yet been announced and hardware will ship in February.
