Storage firm Seagate has released a 1TB hard disk drive designed to offer both security and power efficiency as well as plenty of capacity.
The firm said the 2.5in Constellation.2 hard-disk drive is intended to give system builders and OEMs the ability to create bulk storage products for organisations of all sizes, as well as be used in network-based storage systems.
The product is also available in 250GB and 500GB versions and with either a 6Gbit/s Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) or 6Gbit/s SAS interface.
The firm also touted its security capabilities, explaining it adheres to the T10 Protection Information standard, offers increased reliability and has a Self Encrypting Drive (SED) option to ensure security throughout the drive's life.
Carla Kennedy, vice president of product line management at Seagate, argued that the capabilities built into the product made it ideally suited for meeting the growing need for storage-based system in the business world.
"With its class-leading reliability, record-breaking capacity, and improvements made along its entire range of features, Constellation.2 drive is a perfect solution for dense server and storage systems," she said.
